Grayson's First Plane Trip

After our amazing stay-cation, we were home for all of 2 days before packing up again and heading to a family reunion in Montana (needless to say, by the time we actually got on the plane, I was a little tired). We flew a smaller airline that went out of a different airport than we normally fly, but it was very nice to go through such a small and easy check-in process! Rylie thought it was very cool that we boarded the plane on the tarmac and she did great on the flight. Grayson was perfect! He ate when we wanted and then slept the rest of the way. We can't wait to fly with both of them again!

In all of the flying that I have done over the years, I have never boarded a plane from the back end!

Our Stay-cation

On Friday after the 4th of July, we headed up to Scottsdale to spend the weekend at the Westin Kierland Resort. One great thing about our hot Arizona summers is that all of these amazing resorts offer great deals to get people to come and stay there during the hottest parts of the summer. Rylie had a blast at all of the various pools and in the lazy river. We enjoyed a few days of eating out, playing in the pools, and shopping around Kierland and the Scottsdale Quarter. It was a great stay-cation!

With Mimi on the lazy river.

Grayson was great the whole weekend!

Our room service lunch. :)

A yummy dinner at Brio...Rylie loves this place!

Parent's of the year award right here...a cake pop at 10 in the morning! :)

Both kiddos slept very well in the hotel room (it always helps when you can crank the air down to like 73 degrees!).

4th of July

We were in town this year for the 4th, which means trying not to melt while doing the typical 4th of July activities! Mimi came into town, so Rylie got to spend the holiday with 3 out of 4 grandparents...basically, she was in heaven. :) We started the morning out with a yummy breakfast at Wildflower Bread Company followed by some swimming at my aunt's house. After a good long nap for Rylie, we headed to get some all-American BBQ at Famous Dave's and then went up to a park to watch some fireworks. After the fireworks were over, my parents came back to our house for dessert. One fun thing that happened was that Grayson rolled over for the first time in front of all of us!

Grayson loves his sister!

Even Wrigley gets into the spirit. :)

Kisses from Rylie and Wrigley!

She loves her corn on the cob!

She was very proud of her creation.

Firework time!

VBS Week

Rylie was old enough this summer to go to VBS! We took her to Grace for the week and the theme was "Athens" and they learned all about Paul. The set up was so well done as one entire building was made to look like an ancient Athens marketplace. It was a learning experience for Rylie as she wasn't a huge fan of being left there every morning. We definitely saw a different side of our outgoing, social little girl! We were super proud of her for sticking it out all week, and she really did have a good time (she literally told me that every day...apparently, just the actual mommy leaving part was hard).

Tatum and Rylie all ready for the first day!

Rylie's adorable door decorations for her classroom.

Rylie's teacher bought her whole group this adorable Bible. She loves it! We have read way more of it so far than I ever thought she would be interested in.

Grayson all ready for his big sister's VBS performance. :)

Up on stage!

Doing some of the motions for the songs.

And now extremely distracted by her bandanna. :)

Yes, that is our child right in the front, totally not paying attention of doing any of the motions by this point. :)

Rylie feeds Grayson

When I was pregnant, we would talk to Rylie about what it was going to be like to have a baby brother. She started talking about all of the things that she was going to help us with when the baby was here. Here top three always seemed to be help give him a bath (she loves her baths so this totally made sense), change his diaper (no idea why she was so into this one...maybe because she has been potty trained for awhile so diapers are one thing that seem very baby to her), and help give him a bottle (also, she hasn't used one for so long...nothing says baby more than a bottle!).

She really has been into helping with all of those things, but we have had to explain that he isn't really using a bottle yet. Well, I had to go back to work, so we introduced Grayson to the bottle a couple of weeks ago, and the time came for Rylie to feed him. :)

Yeah, she thought it was the coolest thing ever...for about 3 minutes. :)
